I've seen a trend in municipalities, specifically in creating a digital Town Hall for the community to discuss specific issues. One such municipality is Laie, Hawaii, a small town on the Northshore of Oahu where I began my undergraduate studies. This town has a rich history, religious backbone, and a struggling economy. There are a host of other issues which are plaguing this community, ranging from sanitary sewer issues, tourism management, and environmental sustainability. In my recent trip to this town, I can say with assurance that this type of program is needed. However, I believe their current format (a few meetings ranging a few hours to discuss common themes) will not yield the fruits they desire.
Take a look at their website and give any suggestions you feel may help this struggling community.
